ORiGANUM VULGARE ESSENTIAL OIL

Description

Origanum vulgare essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves and flowering tops of the Origanum vulgare L. plant belonging to the Labiadas family.

It was introduced to Europe during the 16th century from the Middle East.

It is a plant of up to 50 cm. Tall, with purple-purple flowers.

Origanum vulgare L. distillation occurs in July.

Benefits

Origanum vulgare  helps fight gastritis symptoms and repair damaged tissue in the digestive tract. They have antihistamine, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties.

It is said to be the most powerful natural antibiotic there is, this is due to the large number of polyphenols in its essential oil, such as thymol.

This plant can detoxify the body, mainly the liver, in addition to supplying many minerals.

We cannot forget that oregano contains high concentrations of antioxidants, this means that its use prevents premature aging and maintains healthy skin.

Oregano has a compound called carvacrol, it has been purchased in several studies that manages to lower both diastolic and systolic blood pressure and in turn lowers the heart rate, which is why it is indicated in people with hypertension.

Organoleptic properties

Origanum vulgare essential oil is a mobile liquid, yellowish to intense red in color, with a phenolic odor and, in most qualities, quite cresolic and not very pleasant.

Components

Major component of origanum vulgare essential oil is carvacrol. Also noteworthy in its composition are gamma-terpinene and p-cymene, other components are thymol, alpha-pinene, myrcene, beta-caryophyllene.
